Who We Are
College is one of the most formative seasons of your life. It’s a time when you’re making decisions that will shape your future—what you’ll study, where you’ll work, who you’ll become, and ultimately what you’ll live for.
At Makers Church Purdue (MAKR), we believe God has a greater purpose for your life than simply earning a degree or building a successful career. We believe you were made to know Jesus, become more like Him, and join Him in His mission to make disciples who make disciples.
That’s why we’re more than a Sunday gathering. We’re a community that shares life together—studying the Bible, praying for one another, serving our campus, and building friendships that challenge us to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Whether you’re exploring Christianity for the first time or have been walking with Jesus for years, you’ll find a place where you can ask honest questions, grow in your faith, and be known.
We believe the Church is at its best when every follower of Jesus discovers that they have a part to play. Ministry isn’t reserved for a few leaders—it’s the calling of every believer. Our desire is to equip ordinary students to become lifelong disciples, servant leaders, and faithful witnesses wherever God leads them after Purdue.
Our prayer is that when your years at Purdue are over, you won’t simply leave with a diploma. You’ll leave with a deeper love for Jesus, lifelong friendships centered on the gospel, and a life devoted to making an eternal impact.
Our Story
Every church has a story. Ours begins with a simple conviction: Jesus loves college students, and He has a purpose for every one of them.
In 2021, sixteen adults and ten children packed up their lives in California and moved over 2,000 miles to West Lafayette. None of them were paid missionaries or full-time pastors. They were engineers, healthcare workers, business professionals, and families who continued working full-time while planting roots in a new city.
Why would they do that?
Because they believed God was calling them to invest their lives in the students of Purdue University.
With more than 50,000 students from every state and around the world, Purdue is one of the most influential mission fields in the country. We believe the years spent in college are some of the most formative in a person’s life—when lifelong friendships are built, convictions are formed, and the direction of a life is often set.
So we came to build more than a church service. We came to build a community where students can encounter Jesus, wrestle honestly with life’s biggest questions, grow as disciples, and discover that they were made for something bigger than themselves.
That’s why we call ourselves Makers Church.
We believe Jesus is still shaping ordinary people into the kind of men and women who love God, love others, and make disciples wherever He sends them. Whether that calling leads to classrooms, boardrooms, hospitals, laboratories, startups, or neighborhoods around the world, our prayer is that every student who walks through our doors would leave Purdue ready to make an eternal impact.

MEET THE PASTOR
David & Tabby JUN
Hey! I’m David, though most people know me as DJ (despite having absolutely no musical ability).
I grew up in Los Angeles, so I’m a lifelong Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings fan. More importantly, though, I came to college with no interest in God or church. I was simply looking to enjoy life on my own terms.
Everything changed when I met a group of students and mentors who genuinely loved one another. They invited me into their lives, patiently answered my questions about Christianity, and showed me what it looked like to follow Jesus. During one of the lowest seasons of my freshman year, I came to trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior—and it’s the greatest decision I’ve ever made.
Since then, God has given me the privilege of serving college students across the country before leading my family to Purdue University. My passion is helping students know Jesus, grow into lifelong disciples, and discover the joy of living for God’s mission.
My wife, Tabby, and I have two boys who keep us laughing, humble, and very busy. When I’m not with students, you’ll probably find me playing basketball, reading a good book, or searching for the best fast-food burger.
Together, our prayer is that every student who comes to Makers Church would know Jesus deeply, find authentic community, and leave Purdue ready to make an eternal impact wherever God leads.
